“Books for All” is essentially about making
quality books available to underprivileged children in schools, where there is
no library facility. This home-grown initiative is spear headed by Pravin and
Kanchan Bhasin and they continue to be the guiding force. Pravin Bhasin is a
professional Manager, with over 40 years experience in top Indian MNCs.
The
initial idea was simplistic enough – to collect old and unused children’s books
lying in homes like ours, where children grow up and grow out of the need for
all such reading material. We convert one room into a cheerful library.
Infrastructure such as a White Board, Soft Board, basic seating, and table to
do artwork is also provided, so that the children could look forward to spend
their free time and be encouraged to browse through and read the books.
There
is a full-time librarian-cum-caretaker in charge of the centre who help the
children to select books and further initiate the process of self-study.
