MY SCHOOL LIBRARY

WHAT IS A LIBRARY?

A library is not a luxury but one of the necessities of life.

A Library is a place where we can read many different books for free. We borrow a book for about a

week and then return it. If the pages of the book are torn after you give it back, you have to pay for it

no matter who tore it. In a library, we also get to read other writings such as Newspapers, Articles, etc.

My School Library.

My school’s ( Bal Bharati Public School) library is vast. It has many different varieties of books such as

horror, comedy, mystery, etc. We can find the books by the name of the author. The initials are

written on the shelves.

Every Friday, whenever we have our library class, we sit in our assigned seats and read the books

given to us by the sir or ma’am. In the last few minutes, the teacher allows the students who have

given their past assigned books and have their Identity Card to walk around the library and choose a

book of their choice.

After choosing, the students keep their Identity Cards inside the book and keep it on the counter. They

get the book for a week until the next Friday and our next library class. In the next class, the students

bring the books that were assigned to them and keep them on the counter. Then they repeat the process

listed above.

Our Library Environment.

The environment of our library is silent and peaceful. It has the ambience to make readers

comfortable while reading such as Air Conditioners, Comfortable chairs, etc.

Message.

We should all go to the library to gain knowledge, inculcate reading habits and discipline of sitting in

silence. The library is my favorite place.

The longest distance keeping a table lifted with the teeth is 11.80 m (38 ft 8 in) and was achieved by Georges Christen (Luxembourg) who ran this distance holding a 12 kg (26 lb 7 oz) heavy table with a person weighing 50 kg (110 lb 3 oz) sitting on it, on the set of 'Lo show dei record', in Madrid, Spain.

The longest fingernails belonged to Lee Redmond (USA), who started to grow them in 1979 and carefully manicured them to reach a total length of 8.65 m (28 ft 4.5 in) as measured on the set of Lo show dei record in Madrid, Spain.

The fastest time to burst three balloons with the back is 12 seconds, set by Julia Gunthel, aka 'Zlata' (Germany) on the set of Guinness World Records - Die Grossten Weltrekorde in Cologne, Germany.

The heaviest object sword-swallowed is a Dewalt D25980 demolition hammer weighing 38kg (83lb 12 oz). Thomas Blackthorne (UK) swallowed the 24mm (.94 inch) thick drill bit, then held the full weight of the hammer and bit for over 3 seconds, on the set of "Guinness World Records - Die Größten Weltrekorde", in Cologne, Germany.The hammer was switched on.

The largest horn circumference on a steer measured 95.25 cm (37.5 in)

The largest playing card structure was a replica of The Venetian® Macao, The Plaza® Macao and Sands Macao. It measured 10.39 m (34 ft 1.05 in) long, 2.88 m (9 ft 5.39 in) tall and 3.54 m (11 ft 7.37 in) wide, and was created by Bryan Berg (USA) in Macau, China.

The largest hiking boot measures 7.14 m (23 ft 5 in) long, 2.50 m (8 ft 2 in) wide and 4.2 m (13 ft 9 in) tall and was made by Schuh Marke (Germany). It was presented  in Hauenstein, Germany.

The greatest distance travelled with a pool cue on the chin is 1,668 m (5,472 ft 9 in) set by Ashrita Furman (USA) at the Joe Austin Playground in Jamaica, New York, USA

4.

Jake Lonsway of Bay City, Michigan, USA, created the largest ball of cling film, which measured 351 cm (138 in) in circumference and weighed 127.7 kg (281 lb 8 oz).

5.

The highest bunny hop on a bicycle is 1.42 m (4 ft 8 in) and was achieved by Benito Ros (Spain) at the  2009 "bike the rock" festival, Heubach, Germany.

The only male gurner to win the world title an amazing 12 times is Tommy Mattinson (UK), whose flexible face took the top prize at the annual Gurning World Championship at Egremont Crab Fair, Cumbria, UK, in 1986-87 and then 10 times between 1999 and 2010.

1.Ibn al-Haytham

Born in Basra, al-Haytham was a preeminent thinker of his age. He made valuable contributions in maths, anatomy, astronomy, engineering, medicine, philosophy, physics, and he also introduced a scientific methodology of experimentation and observation. Most important was his work on optics, and his text, The Book of Optics is regarded as being responsible for a revolution in the study of optics and visual perception. His was the first description of acamera obscura (dark chamber), and he also laid foundations for the development of the microscope, the telescope and establishing optical principles of Renaissance art. 

2.Tim Berners-Lee

If it weren't for Tim Berners-Lee, you would not be able to read this article. He is the man responsible for the introduction of the World Wide Web, having developed it as a communication utility while working at CERN, the European Particle Physics Laboratory. Remarkably, he refused to patent his invention, giving it as a gift to the world instead. The internet has since revolutionized the way people communicate, as well as their ability to acquire information and the speed and efficiency with which global commerce operates. His invention was a truly revolutionary moment in communication, with the potential to surpass the discoveries of Marconi and Alexander Graham-Bell. 

3.Avicenna

One of the most influential of all Islamic scientists, Avicenna, like many of his peers, worked on many aspects of science including medicine, maths, logic, and geology to name but a few. He wrote almost 450 texts on a wide variety of subjects, his two most famous being The Canon of Medicine and The Book of Healing. These were used as standard university textbooks across Europe for hundreds of years. However, his influence extended farther, as he is also considered responsible for the introduction of quarantine to avoid spreading infections, as well as introducing clinical trials and systematic experimentation

4.Thomas Midgley

Thomas Midgley is a man who has made a massive contribution to the modern world. Sadly, his contribution was not a positive one. First, Midgley discovered that the addition of lead to petrol stopped the "knocking" effect incar engines. However, this also caused massive health problems globally. Subsequently, he was the man responsible for the development of CFCs, one of the most destructive compounds in our atmosphere today, and a major contributor to global warming. It has been remarked that Midgley “had a greater impact on the atmosphere than any other organism in history.” Sadly for him, but possibly good for the fate of mankind, he contracted polio, and after devising an elaborate pulley system to help him get out of bed, he inadvertently tangled himself up in the strings and strangled himself.

5.James Clerk Maxwell

Acclaimed by some as the father of modern physics, James Clerk Maxwell is a hugely influential figure in the fields of electricity, thermodynamics, photography, nuclear energy, and others. His discovery of the electromagnetic spectrum led to the development of television, radio, microwaves, as well as aiding in the development of radio and infrared telescopes. His equations on the electromagnetic field were essential for the Special Theory of Relativity, by one Albert Einstein. He also produced the first color photograph, a picture of a tartan ribbon. His work actually marked a departure from the work of another great scientist, Isaac Newton, and helped to inform the science behind many of the great technological developments of the modern era.

Indian Festivals, Holi

Holi

Holi is the festival of colors. It marks the coming of spring. It is celebrated in the month of phalgun. it occurs on the day of full moon.

  This festival is of 2 days. The importance of the 1 day is-long time ago there was one cruel king Hiranyakashypu, he wanted everybody to worship him instead of god.  But Prahlad followed Vishnu. He planned to kill prahlad.  He thought that Holika would sit with him in the bonfire because Holika could not be harmed by fire by virtue of a boon from GOD.But the opposite happened-Holika died and prahlad came out without getting burnt. The triumph of prahlad represents victory of good over evil.  

     In North India on the eve of holy bonfire are lit. They enjoy by singing and dancing. The next day they enjoy with gulal. Some people enjoy this with gulal ,water, water balloons, bucket of water, water guns and harmful colors.

it is a very joyful festival.

Indian Festival, Raksha Bandhan

RAKSHA BANDHAN

Raksha Bandhan is a unspoken pledge exchange between a brother and a sister cementing their relationships. It is celebrated on the day of Shravan Purnima (full moon) that falls in the month of August every year. On this day, sister ties a delicate, sometimes decorative, thread on the wrist of their brothers and apply tilak on the forehead as a symbol of love and affection. The brother responds by giving a gift, implicitly pledging to protect his sister from danger. In some places in medieval India where women felt unsafe, they tied Rakhi around the wrists of men they could count upon. Later this practice changed and sister started typing Rakhi only on their brother's wrists. There are many legends that signify the importance of Rakhi in India.

President of India - Dr. Rajendra Prasad

Dr. Rajendra Prasad [1884-1963]

A stalwart of India's struggle for freedom and elected president of the Constituent Assembly in 1946, Dr Rajendra Prasad became India's president when India became a republic on 26^th January 1950. He held office for twelve years till May 1962 the longest term of any president.

Born in Bihar where he had his early education, he later joint Presidency Collage, Calcutta, where he had a brilliant academic record. After his MA he worked as a Professor at Muzzafarpur College. Later he obtained the degree of Master of Law.

In 1910, he came in contact with Gopal Krishna Gokhale and joined the Servants of Indian Society. He met Mahatma Gandhi in 1915 and became an active Congress worker and freedom fighter. In 1932, he was elected President of Indian National Congress.

He wrote three books: History of the Champaran Campaign; India Divided and autobiography.

Immensely respected and admired, he could have continued for another term he wished, but he preferred to stand down in a spirit of self-abnegation.

He awarded the country's highest honor, the Bharat Ratna, in 1962.

Dr S Radhakrishan [1888-1975]

Dr S Radhakrishan had his early education at Christian missionary schools had a brilliant academic record. He got his MA degree in Philosophy from Madras University.

Recipient of numerous honors and distinctions from great universities the world over, Dr Radhakrishan was Professor of Eastern Religions and Ethics at Oxford University from 1936 to 1939 to 1948.

A great scholar of Sanskrit, Indian philosophy and comparative religions as well as philosopher, writer, educationist and statesman, he will be always be remembered for his towering intellect and monumental writings. Among his 32 published works are History of Indian Philosophy, The Hindu View of Line and Eastern Religions and Western Thoughts.

Dr Radhakrishan served as Vice President from 1952 to 1962 for a five year term.

It is a fitting tribute to his greatness as a scholar and teacher that teacher's Day is celebrated throughout the country on his birthday, September 5, each year.

He was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1963

So I must find a pencil, a pen, a crayon, a lipstick, anything that will write, and scribble a few words that will later on remind me of the idea. The Scientific Method

   

      Science is supposed to progress a sensible, rational, step-by-step way known as the scientific method. We have an idea, a theory or a hypothesis. This must be in such a form that it makes predictions. We design experiment and tests to check the predictions. During the experiments we study, observe measure and access. We examine and analyse the results. If they fit the predictions, they support the original theory. After double-and triple-checking the experiments and results, we can move to the next stage. In this way we gradually build up a vast and interlinked body of knowledge and understanding, that stretches from the tiniest particles of matter, to the entire contents of the universe.

Introduction to Science

When do science begin? 

Perhaps when early humans, more than a million years ago, picked up rocks and chipped them to form stone tools. Someone tried several different kinds of rocks.
She or he noticed that a particular type of rock produced a cleaner, sharper edge than the other types. This was one of the first trial-and-error series of experiments. Gradually other kinds of rocks were tested and found to be even better. Materials scientists do the same today, formalulating the latest metal alloys and tailor-made composites for special purposes.
